Hi Tom, what a great video and great information. I'm from CT so rules I believe are different here. My husband just opened up a Home Improvement business, LLC. a few months back and I'm having a hard time on how to pay sales tax? not sure if this is something you do and how often you have to pay it. I went to the CT.gov DRS site. Someone told me that New Construction and Owner-occupied residential property do not have to charge tax when performing carpentry services, but there would be a charge tax when performing carpentry for existing commercial property, existing industrial property and existing income – producing property. Just want some more information to this. It's too much and starting to get overwhelming.

I'm 29 and I can fix some things but not all. How do I go about becoming a handyman?

  14. Why did you mention S-Corp is best for a Handyman business?

  15. Jarid Shaw says:

Hey Tom! A little late to the game in posting a comment but I wanted to get your take on something. I know we don't need an LLC to get started. You recommend an S-corp. but what are your thoughts on a sole proprietorship?

  16. Hi Tom! Did you make all of your own estimate/contract/business sheets customers fill out or did you find templates online?

Hey Tom, looks nice not seeing the snow in your work areas. Living and working in Pennsylvania we are required to have a state contractor's number displayed on our business cards vehicles and any contract. Needs renewed every 2 years. I also had to take the training course in order to be lead safe certified from the EPA. License is good for 5 years. Does your state require the same license?
